Enforcing the law isn’t easy. Stress management can be difficult when you’re swamped by problems at work. That’s why it’s important to be able to unwind when you’re off the clock. Here are some great ways to unwind and reduce stress:


  1. Video Games

Sometimes you just want to let the world around you melt away, and spend a few hours thinking about something else. Video games let you immerse yourself in another world. The best part is that there’s such a wide variety of video games. Whether you want something relaxing, action-packed, or adventurous, there’s a video game tohelp LEOs unwind!


  1. Fishing

If you’re lucky enough to live in a place--or near a place--that you can fish, then it’s agreat way to relax and reduce stress. There’s just something peaceful about spending your time outdoors. It’s even better if you get to catch something tasty to go with it!


  1. Exercise

Working out in some form or another has beenshown to help people reduce stress. Being a LEO doesn’t give you a ton of free time, so it’s important to spend it the right way. The key to working out and relieving stress is to not overdo it, but follow a healthy regimen. Find the right routine and the right pace for you, and stick to it.


  1. Woodworking

There’s a ton of things you can do such as woodworking. It’s nice to focus on something else for a few hours,something that is therapeutic. Few things feel better than finishing a project that’s meaningful and you put your time and hard work into.


  1. Hang Out With Non-LEOs

I get it.It’s nice to be around people who understand your work. That’s important, especially when your work is this tough. But it’s also important to let your mind relax from the stress of being an LEO. Spending all your time with other LEOs won’t feel like time away from work. That’s why you should try to make some friends outside of law enforcement who share other interests with you.
